Finishline Quarter Midget Drivers make headlines at the 44th running of the Tangerine Invitational Winter Nationals
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

The Finishline Quarter Midget (QM) School started in April of 2002 to meet the growing need of qualified instruction in the sport of QM racing. A number of 2002 graduates competed in the Tangerine Winter Invitational held in Apopka , FL. This year's event boosted over 308 entries with drivers attending from all over the country. They say when you win at the Tangerine Winter Invitational you are competing against the best competition in the country.

The event schedule was a day of qualifying, which was held on 12/27/02, with the next two days devoted to heat races. Points are awarded for all the finishes with the final lineup for the features being determined by an average of points earned. The final features where run on Monday, 12/30/02 and finished in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

The Finishline QM Drivers where:

  • Coby Rolston, Deland, FL, age 6, JR Novice
    Driving a NC Chassis
    Qualified: 15th
    1st heat race: finished 3rd
    2nd heat race: WON
    C main: finished 10th
    Coby has only been racing QM's for 5 months and this was his first National event.
     

  • Corey Drier, Lake Mary, FL, age 7, JR Novice
    Driving a NC Chassis
    Qualified: 3rd
    1st heat race: WON
    2nd heat race: WON
    A Main: WON
    Corey has only been racing QM's for 10 months and this was his first National event. By winning the A MAIN, he is the 2002 Tangerine Champion in the JR. Novice Division
     

  • Critter Saile, Orlando, FL, age 6, JR Novice
    Qualified:12th
    1st heat race: 2nd
    2nd heat race: 2nd
    B main: 10th
    Critter has only been racing QM's for 10 months and this was his first National event.
     

  • Zack Donatti, New Smyrna, FL, age 8,JR Honda
    Driving a NC Chassis
    Qualified: Fastest time
    1st heat race: WON
    2nd heat race: WON
    A main: SAT ON THE POLE, after a flat tire fought his way back to finishing 5th. Zack, the 2002 New Smyrna Track Champion has only been racing QM's for 2 years and this was his first National event.
     

  • Zach Colangelo, Orlando, FL, age 14
     

  • Jeremy Colangelo, Orlando,FL, age 16
    Both brothers Drive an NC Chassis
    Both raced in numerous divisions and did extremely well
    Race results where not available at press time

All in all, the Florida Grads of the Finishline Racing School did EXTREMELY well
