Local Quarter Midget Driver Sits on Pole for Final Race
Zack Donatti Takes Pole
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Zack Donatti in his first appearance and in only his second year of driving
Quarter Midgets captured the pole position in the JR. Honda division. Zack will
be racing in tomorrow's grand finale, the "A" Main that concludes the four-day
running of the 44th Annual Tangerine Invitational Winter Nationals held in
Apopka, Florida. This year's event boosts over 300 entries with drivers
attending from all over the country. They say when you win at the Tangerine
Winter Invitational you are competing against the best competition in the
country.
The event schedule is a day of qualifying, which was held on 12/27/02, with the
next two days devoted to heat races. Points are awarded for all the finishes
with the final lineup for the features being determined by an average of points
awarded.
On the first day, 8 year old Zack Donatti ran the fastest time in the JR. Honda
division, beating out 39 other competitors. His winning qualifying time was
7.067.
Zack Donatti a resident of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and this years Jr. Honda
Series Champion (NSBQMA) has also won both heat races held on 12/28/02 and
12/29/02. The most points that a driver can earn are 30. Zack earned all 30
points guaranteeing him the pole position for Monday's grand finale race.
Donatti said after securing the pole position "Everything felt so right on the
track, the car was on rails. I need to thank the Finishline Racing school who
has coached me throughout the year."
The talk in the pits was that Donatti is the one to beat come Monday when the
green flag drops.
Zack is a 2002 graduate of the Finishline Quarter Midget race school located in
Edgewater, Florida. The Finishline manufactures winners, from Winston Cup to
Quarter Midgets.
